About

Nicola Baldwin is a playwright, scriptwriter and director. Commissions include: Royal Court, Royal Exchange, Crucible, Bath Theatres, Unicorn, Carlton TV, ITV Drama, BBC Drama, Resonance FM, The Place, Whitechapel Gallery, World Productions. 

She has won the George Devine award, Time Out theatre award, twice been shortlisted for Susan Smith Blackburn Prize and BBC Audio awards. She was a 2020 Hospitalfield resident, inaugural UCL Creative Fellow, MGCfutures bursary recipient, and a Royal Literary Fund Fellow. 

Recent work includes: Wasteland, Woman From Mars; Camberwell Green and Madison Chorus for BBC Radio 4, and audio installation for Imperial War Museum.

Her 6-part drama series Have Your Cake will be on Audible from September 2021.

Jointly with Dr Elaine Cloutman-Green, Nicola set up the Nosocomial project, which uses drama and performances to tell 'hospital acquired' stories of Healthcare Science. Nosocomial won the 2019 CSO Partnering Patients and Citizens award from the Chief Scientific Officer and 2020 Antibiotic Guardian award for public engagement. She is Creative Director of the Rise of the Resistance festival.

Winner: NHS England Chief Scientific Officer 'Partnering Citizens Award' (2019), Antibiotic Guardian award for Public Engagement. Co-created with Dr Elaine Cloutman-Green and NHS Healthcare Scientists.
