About
Nicola Baldwin is a writer and director. Commissions include: Royal Court, Royal Exchange, Crucible, Bath Theatres, Unicorn, Carlton TV, ITV Drama, BBC Drama, Resonance FM, The Place, Whitechapel Gallery, Skreba, World Productions. She has won the George Devine award, Time Out theatre award, twice been shortlisted for Susan Smith Blackburn Prize and BBC Audio awards. She was UCL Creative Fellow, Visiting Fellow, MGCfutures bursary recipient for Woman From Mars, and Royal Literary Fund Fellow.
Recent work includes: Camberwell Green and Madison Chorus for BBC Radio 4; audio installation One Story Many Voices for Imperial War Museum. Her drama series Have Your Cake is available on Audible. She is part of The Writers Lab UK & Ireland 2022-2023 with her sci-fi feature Black Moss.
Jointly with Dr Elaine Cloutman-Green, Nicola set up the Nosocomial project, which tells 'hospital acquired' stories of Healthcare Science. Nosocomial won the 2019 CSO Partnering Patients and Citizens award from the Chief Scientific Officer and 2020 Antibiotic Guardian award for public engagement and was at Bloomsbury Festival in October. She was Creative Director of the Rise of the Resistance festival to raise awareness of AMR.
